Since then, there have been many positive changes to DOD insider threat policy and programs. This webinar is a collaboration between DCSA and the US Navy. The main presentation of the webinar features a guest speaker who is a survivor of the shooting and he will share his personal account.

  • Presenter: Mr. Steve Santomauro, DUSN, Director, Personnel Vetting Directorate.
  • Description: The DON’s Director of Personnel Vetting will discuss the nexus of Personnel Vetting and effective insider risk management.  Participants will gain an understanding of key changes that are currently happening in the personnel vetting discipline, and which will be on-going for at least the next decade.  This session will focus on significant operational changes to risk management and vetting operations which came about as a result of the Navy Yard Shooting; these changes include Continuous Evaluation, enhanced threat information-sharing capabilities, and an expansion of the data sources that vetting experts tap into in order to identify and manage personnel risk.  The session will discuss opportunities for collaboration with security managers and SSOs as well as key strategies to improve collaboration between the security and insider threat communities.
