Master Gunnery Sergeant Samuel Wayne Castro Jr. is the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Office of the Deputy Commandant for Information.

MGySgt Castro enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1999. He trained as a Spanish linguist at the Defense Language Institute before reporting for duty with the 2nd Radio Battalion, deploying to Bolivia, Haiti and Iraq as a Signals Intelligence/Electronic Warfare (SINGINT/EW) Team Leader.

Upon returning from Iraq, MGySgt Castro was assigned to the 2nd Special Operations Training Group as an instructor/evaluator. He then served as SIGINT/EW Chief for the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, supporting operations in Iraq, Somalia and Bangladesh. Other assignments include the Defense Language Institute, Defense Intelligence Agency, the Defense Attache Office, and the National Security Agency, and III Marine Expeditionary Force.

MGySgt Castro began his duties with the Deputy Commandant for Information’s staff in 2020. Upon his selection to his current rank, he became the second Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Deputy Commandant for Information.
