DC I Onboarding Timeline and Tasks

You should receive an email from your sponsor outlining the tasks you need to complete as part of your onboarding checklist. In case you have any questions about DC I’s onboarding process, please check in with your sponsor. To ensure that your onboarding process runs smoothly, you will continue to receive messages with reminders, tasks, and new information throughout your first year. We highly encourage you to go through this information carefully and ask questions in case you need any further clarification.

 


 

Required Training, Security Documents, and Administrative Forms

Required Training

New Marines have required training that they must complete within the first two weeks of their employment with DC I. The following is more information on how to access the training portal to complete the below listed training requirements.

You can access the training modules via the STEPP Portal, MarineNet or TWMS and search for the below listed training.

  • Cyber Awareness Challenge 2024

  • Identifying and Safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

  • Derivative Classification

  • Marking Special Categories of Classified Information

  • Unauthorized Disclosure (UD) of Classified Information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)

Additionally, you will be required to complete the following training accessible via the Defense Travel Website.

Parking/Alternative Transportation

Your parking options depend on your work location. For information about parking options for the Pentagon, Marine Corps Base Quantico or NSF Arlington or to request temporary parking for your first week, contact your sponsor.

  • Mass Transit Benefit Program (MTBP)

    • Federal employees who commute to the National Capital Region (NCR) can receive a monthly benefit to use on public transit or vanpool to get to work. This benefit is tax-free, and you are eligible if you commute to work using either public transit bus, commuter trains, metro or vanpools.

    • Everything you need to know about the MTBP program is available on the program’s website.

Navigating the Pentagon can be overwhelming during your first week, but don't worry! Your sponsor will be available to give you a tour and acquaint you with the DC I office spaces. If you have questions about health insurance, life insurance or Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) you are welcome to call the Department of the Navy (DON) Benefits Line at 1-888-320-2917 and select option 4 to talk to a Customer Service Representative (CSR). CSR’s are available from 7:30 am until 7:30 pm (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday, except on federal holidays.
