Mr. Jan Durham is the Identity and Attribution Activities (IA2) Program Manager for the Deputy Commandant for Information, Information Intelligence Division at Headquarters Marine Corps. The IA2 program combines biometric, forensic, and intelligence functions to identify individuals, analyze evidence, and link it to people, places, objects, and events.
Mr. Durham began his military career after graduating from Brigham Young University in 1995 via the Platoon Leaders Combined commissioning program and has served around the world in various duties as a Military Police Officer. Mr. Durham deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Antiterrorism/Force Protection Officer. Other tours include Security Officer at HMX-1, Asymmetric Warfare Action Officer for the Joint Staff (J3), the first-ever Commander of the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, Deputy Branch Head of Law Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, and Corrections in the Security Division, Plans, Policies, and Operations, and Deputy Director of the Combined Joint Operations Center – Baghdad Combined Joint Land Component Command, Operation Inherent Resolve.
Retiring from the Marine Corps as Lieutenant Colonel in 2018, Mr. Durham accepted an industry position as a Senior Project Manager and Deputy Program Manager on the Department of State’s Overseas Security Installations Services contract.
Mr. Durham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Language from Brigham Young University. He is a graduate of the Naval War College (Highest Distinction) and is a certified Project Management Professional. He is the recipient of the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Acheivement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
