CHANGE OF COMMAND
Col. Stephen A. Ritchie assumed command of Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany after Matthew J. McKinney relinquished command, June 29. McKinney transitions into retirement. Ritchie comes to MCLB Albany after serving as inspector general, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler. Leadership from the Albany area community were in attendance at the change of command ceremony. Also at the ceremony was Col. Gregory Pace, commander, MCIEAST, who made brief remarks as did the outgoing and incoming colonels. McKinney was awarded the Legion of Merit with gold star in lieu of second award at the change of command.

22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit SOUTHCOM Deployment Video
U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) successfully completed a historic, ten-month deployment to the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility from Aug. 2025 to June 2026. The 22nd MEU (SOC) deployed in support of the U.S. Southern Command mission, Department of War-directed operations, and the president’s priorities to disrupt illicit drug trafficking and protect the homeland. MCRD San Diego Fox Company Graduation - 06/26/26
The new Marines of Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, June 26th 2026. Graduation took place at the completion of the 13-week transformation which included training for drill, marksmanship, basic combat skills, and Marine Corps customs and traditions. Following graduation, the Marines were given 10 days of leave before taking the next step in training at the School of Infantry at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.

Marines Partner with State and Federal Agencies for Endangered Desert Bighorn Sheep
U.S. Marines with Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron (HMLAT) 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, supports a wildlife project at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, June 12-14, 2026. 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Type Commander's Amphibious Training
U.S. Marines assigned to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, with embarked infantry assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, both with 2d Marine Division, and Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 261, Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 269, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 542, and Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 461, all with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, participate in the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Type Commander’s Amphibious Training aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) off the coast of North Carolina, June 7-21, 2026. TCAT is a military exercise designed to enhance mobility and integration between the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy. The amphibious force is an integrated capability providing sea, land and air operations, giving geographic combatant commanders a flexible and agile force for aggregated or disaggregated operations worldwide.
