• Description: The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM) Conference hosted by the Department of Defense Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC) will provide a unique opportunity for both Insider Threat Practitioners, Security Professionals and other functional support elements to come together and discuss insider threat awareness. The theme of this year's event is Partnering for Progress setting the stage for networking and collaboration among all functional support elements within the insider threat arena. 

• Intended Audience: Insider Threat Practitioners, Security Professionals, and Members of InT Functional Support Elements.

• Presenter: Mr. James Dollard, Program Manager, Marine Corps Insider Threat Program 

• Description: During the first part of this workshop participants will be provided an overview of the Program's mission, primary lines of effort, and operational capabilities. During the second half of the workshop, Mr. Dollard will be discussing how the Program can be leveraged by commanders, supervisors, and security/personnel stakeholders to support their risk mitigation responsibilities.

• Description: In recognition of National Insider Threat Awareness Month, the National Counterintelligence and Security Center’s Enterprise Threat-Mitigation Directorate, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and Federal Bureau of Investigation is pleased to announce the 2025 Insider Threat Symposium. This classified event will bring together leaders and subject matter experts from across the Insider Threat and Counterintelligence communities to participate in relevant briefings and panels. Only those with an active top-secret clearance are eligible to attend. Space is limited at this in-person only event and early registration is strongly encouraged.

• Presenters: Dr. Chris Taylor and Dr. Brian Van Brunt

• Description: Join Drs. Chris Taylor and Brian Van Brunt as they share their observations and insights related to the incel phenomenon while exploring reasons why boys and men are attracted to this philosophy. They will describe and apply a risk rubric useful for understanding the level of indoctrination related to incel violence drawn from their book Understanding the Incel. Three case examples will be offered to further the participants' ability to practice these assessment techniques as part of a threat assessment.

• Presenters: Stephanie Leite, Principal at Forensic Intelligence, LLC. 

• Description:  Participants will be provided an overview on the importance of understanding domestic violence and misogyny as a pre-indicator in planned attacks, the importance of victim safety, perpetrator stressors, stalking behaviors, and lethality indicators. The talk will also focus on vicarious trauma.

• Presenters: Ms. Carrie Staugler, Security & Counterintelligence Risk Expert

• Description:  Join Ms. Carrie Staugler, for a practical, operationally focused overview of how to effectively build, manage, and mature Insider Threat and Insider Risk programs—even in resource-constrained environments—while aligning with mission objectives, protecting sensitive assets, and meeting compliance mandates.

• Presenter: Ms. Janet Lawless, CEO and Founder, Center for Threat Intelligence

• Description: Organizations face a persistent threat from individuals who, whether intentionally or through negligence, can compromise sensitive information and systems. Adversaries actively seek to exploit vulnerabilities within organizations, using tactics ranging from persuasion and bribery to the deliberate placement of malicious actors. A proactive and comprehensive approach is essential for mitigating these risks and building organizational resilience. In this presentation, Janet Lawless will discuss the specific tactics and techniques used by adversaries to cultivate insider threats, provide insights into recognizing the behavioral indicators and motivations that may contribute to insider activity, and explore strategies for fostering employee loyalty and a strong security mindset within your organization.

• Description: The Marine Corps, along with representatives from other DoD Component Insider Threat Programs, will be manning tables at the Pentagon on the 23rd of September to raise awareness, answer questions, and promote understanding of Program requirements and capabilities.

• Presenter: Mr. Ashden Fein, former Lead Trial Attorney for U.S. v. Private Bradley Manning (WikiLeaks)

• Description: Mr. Ashden Fein will offer insight into his experiences as the lead trial attorney in the prosecution of Private Chelsea (Bradley) Manning for the unlawful disclosure of classified information to WikiLeaks, the largest national security and cybercrime investigation and prosecution in the history of the Army.
