  space for the extreme fringes to radicalize toward targeted violence. The
  online subculture exists across social media platforms, interweaving past
  shooters together and aestheticizes mass attackers. Through sharing interest
  in the same cases, creating digital media and fan art, and viewing
  livestream attacks, it can provide additional incentive to youth
  radicalizing individuals toward Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE).

• Description: The Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview presentation introduces the behavioral approach to violence prevention.  Many individuals planning to carry out acts of targeted violence display concerning behaviors.  Recognizing these changes in behaviors and risk factors and reporting them can help in preventing acts of targeted violence such as, but not limited to, terrorism, school shootings, or mass attacks in public spaces.

Mr. Hoppe will explain how the DoD is putting measures in place to maintain our technological advantage, keep our warfighters safe, and address the critical role of insider threat mitigation in protecting sensitive technology and data. This presentation is important for anyone interested in national security, technology, the future of defense, the challenges of preventing insider threats, and understanding how to protect critical assets from internal vulnerabilities.

• Presenters: Dr. Stephanie Leite, Principal at Forensic Intelligence, LLC

• Description: Dr. Leite is a psychologist who specializes in threat assessment and management. She has had a disproportionate number of referrals that include individuals who are socially different than others, who have been diagnosed with autism, and who make others uneasy. Diving into the topic, she will cover general information on autism and crime, carefully explain the difference between autism and psychopathic behavior, and use research to identify factors that create greater and less risk in the population. We will then look at several real-life case examples, applying our new knowledge to that report. Participants will walk away understanding the way our understanding of autism and threat impacts our assessment and management of our community.
